Set in the present day, in the oak panelled drawing room at Chequers, the British Prime Minister’s official country residence, the show revolved around the challenges faced by an embattled PM and his advisors. The ingenious flat pack touring set, designed by Graham McGuffie, was painted over six weeks. All timber work was painted in three layers and coated in polyurethane gloss, the wallpaper through the doorway was created with a stencil and sponge technique. Outside the window to stage right is a garden and brick wall (extension of the building) the brick wall painted with the aid of a stencil and shaded/aged for effect.
